Idaho golf industry shows uptick in 2012

BOISE, Idaho -

?Idaho golf industry officials say the combination of favorable weather and an improved economy led to an upswing in play at courses across the state in 2012.
?? ?
Figures show golfers played 4 percent more rounds last year than 2011. Data from PGA PerformanceTrak also shows golf fee revenue increased 12.8 percent last year.
?? ?
BanBury Golf Course pro Ben Bryson in Boise says weather may have been the biggest factor in the turnaround. Bryson told the Idaho Business Review (http://bit.ly/WuZ0B8 ) terrible spring weather conditions in 2011 were a big reason golfers stayed at home.
?? ?
Despite the uptick in 2012, Idaho golf courses ended the year with a slow December. During the month, rounds played declined 10 percent compared to the same period in 2011 - in part because of wet conditions.
